
Posada not all bad last night
October 8, 2009, 11:23 amAfter last night’s outing, which featured CC Sabathia throwing to Jorge Posada, a lot is being made about Posada’s 2 passed balls and a blockable wild pitch from CC. While I think it’s fine for us to levy some criticism at Posada, I think we also have to take into account that he guided CC through 6 2/3 stellar innings when CC didn’t have command of his fastball. That’s an important part of the game that isn’t being discussed today (it doesn’t fit the “Posada can’t catch” meme). I’ve criticized Posada’s game-calling and defensive abilities before and those criticisms were on display with the last night’s miscues, however, we should at least recognize the positives aspects of his performance, too.
