No Halladay on the horizon
July 8, 2009, 5:35 pmVia Joel Sherman’s Twitter feed, it appears as though Roy Halladay will not be a Yankee come the trade deadline (surprised?). According to Sherman, unnamed Yankee “officials” told him that there is “zero chance” they trade for the Toronto ace. The “officials” also noted that they wouldn’t trade for Halladay for the same reasons they didn’t acquire Johan Santana (i.e., money and the loss of young talent). Obviously, it doesn’t matter what unnamed sources say today because we’ve seen how meaningless these reports can be, however, here the reasoning is pretty sound. If they didn’t do it for Santana, why do it for the older Halladay?

Since a package for Doc would start with Jesus the catcher + Ajax + pitching prospects, I don’t know that I would want the Yankees to get involved for 1.5 years of Doc.
