
When the Pirates sell, the Yankees buy
July 2, 2009, 3:00 pmAccording to Ed Price of Fanhouse, the Pirates—who have become perpetual sellers—are considering trading both John Grabow and closer Matt Capps (as well as other pieces of their team). While Phil Hughes seems to be establishing himself as a possible bridge to Mariano, the Yankees could still look to bolster their bullpen with another late-inning reliever and a guy like Capps could be an option if he’s actually available (he’s a great pitcher). Also, as Ken Davidoff noted yesterday, the Yankees like having an extra lefty in the bullpen which is why he speculated about Ron Villone, however, John Grabow, a lefty, has interested the team before and he could become another guy the Yankees look at from Pittsburgh.
