Quick Bits: Sony, A-Rod, T-Shirts

January 12, 2009, 1:31 pm

Let’s dive in.

1. The Yankees and Sony have come together for a branding agreement. The agreement opens the door for an assortment of Sony gear (LCD monitors, PS3’s, etc.) to be featured in the new Yankee Stadium.

2. I don’t really follow the A-Rod and Madonna story, but according to TMZ (aaaargh) A-Rod and Kate Hudson “went on a date” in Manhattan this weekend. To be honest, a Madonna and A-Rod pairing would be hell for A-Rod (she’s scary looking, too) and ammo for non-Yankee fans (do you want thousands of Red Sox fans singing Like a Virgin when he’s at bat?), so this is a step in the right direction.

3. Finally, it looks like everyone is trying to buy a new CC Sabathia jersey. I’m going to buy a CC and a Teixeira one, actually. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more Teixeira jerseys than A-Rod jerseys in a few years.

  1. Why can’t A-Rod just date normal, run-of-the-mill models? We need him to concentrate!

  2. Haha… seriously… jk!

  3. The Yankee player t-shirt is very interesting, where every fan has a different criteria for which player to wear and when they get it. My first player tee was in 1998 and it was a Tino Martinez one.

For me, I usually wait to see how the player performs before I buy their player tee…and I generally have to like them. I only own a Jeter, Posada, Rivera and Damon player tee…and the Damon one was my only quick purchase because I wanted it on my back as soon as possible to piss off Sox fans.

My next buy, and this may sound strange, will be (hopefully, if he gets to stay) a Nick Swisher tee. I love the guy and he was my favorite non-Yankee for years. I have no desire to wear a Tex, CC or Burnett shirt for some reason.

  4. ^I’d love a Swisher tee. He’s the man.
