Yanks Offered Andy $10 Million

According to Joel Sherman and his sources, the Yankees offered Pettitte $10 million for 2009 and he obviously rejected it. Now, in defense of Andy, $10 million is pretty low. He did struggle in the second half of 2008, but he can still deliver (health permitting) and is one of the better free agent pitchers available (his 1-year deals are nice too). I can certainly understand trying to low ball the guy because this is a business and you try to save money where you can, but a $12-13 million offer seems more reasonable (from Andy’s perspective).
