Late Night Bits: Mussina, Sabathia, Wives

November 20, 2008, 12:22 am

OK, here they are (I’ll be concise):

1. Mike Mussina is set to retire, although no formal announcement has been made. He looks to be heading out on his own terms instead of waiting around until he’s incapable of sustaining league average numbers and someone throws him out (unceremoniously). Jim Palmer, a friend and former teammate of Mussina’s, offers his own glowing take on Moose and his remarkable career (via Tyler Kepner).

2. With one Yankee career ending, hopefully we’ll see another begin. CC Sabathia is going to wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday before announcing any sort of decision over his baseball future (don’t hold your breathe for an announcement that following week, even). In his report on CC, Ken Davidoff notes that the Dodgers, who were reportedly in the mix for the big lefty, don’t think they can actually afford him. Either way, two other hometown teams, the Giants and Angels, are expected to bid on his services (relatively soon), although it’s unlikely they’ll match the Yanks’ offer.

3. Finally, the guys over at Wild Hog, which is apparently a “comedy” website, has a great post up about the MLB’s hottest wives. Nick Swisher and Jorge Posada both have their ladies on the list.
