Yanks Make Offer to CC

According to Ed Price, the Yankees made an offer to CC Sabathia today, and it exceeds the 6-year, $137.5 million deal for Johan Santana. The Yankees probably put in a bid around $140 million, give or take a few million, as they’re trying to demonstrate a willingness to give Sabathia the biggest contract for a pitcher (ever). Price notes that the team doesn’t expect CC to sign with anyone right away and the Yankees know that, as their offer is just an opening number that will likely increase by $10 million or so.
