The Steinbrenners Are Waiting

The Steinbrenner duo (Hank & Hal) is currently waiting for a response from Brian Cashman as he ponders his role as the team’s GM. In fact, according to Jon Heyman, they’re “proactively waiting” and have indicated to Cashman that they’re looking to hear from him within a week in regards to his future with the club. Apparently, Cashman’s contract does not expire until the end of October, however, with a roster overhaul likely in the works, the sooner a response, the better.
Therefore, this contract situation should be resolved by next Tuesday or so (Heyman notes that Cashman will look to respond within that deadline). Once Cashman is clear on his commitment to the team, then the negotiations will begin for his new contract.
