From Yahoo Sports (AP):
New York City police say they arrested more than a dozen people for stealing pieces of Yankee Stadium during the 85-year-old ballpark’s final game.Police say 18 fans were charged with possessing stolen property.
Officers were out in force for the stadium’s final game on Sunday to keep souvenir hunters from tearing away pieces of the place.
Yankee spokesman Howard Rubenstein told the New York Post that they intend to hire a private security team to protect the stadium from other would-be thieves.
It was bound to happen. I’m actually happy that I couldn’t attend the final game (well, not happy, but you know what I mean), simply because I would have been in that group.
What would you steal if you had your chance?
I’d try to steal Pudge Rodriguez. He’s pretty small and hasn’t done much for the team, so I think I could get away with it without anyone noticing…

They are only protecting all the stuff so they can sell/auction it to people in the next two years. I bought some Dodger Stadium seats and they are a good addition to a house. If I were there I would try and steal David Wells pasta.
It’d be great to snatch a few of the seats.
It might have been difficult to make your way out of there with anything that David Wells intended to eat. He probably would have wacked you over the head with a Jack Daniels bottle.
i would steal anything i could get off the wall or seats. when it closed in the 70s my dad went to the last game and hid a board from his seat under his shirt, he still has it.
