Should Moose Return?
September 19, 2008, 2:14 pmFrom Josh Thomas (The Journal):
“I can say that I won my last start at Yankee Stadium,” Mussina said. “It’ll always be something nice I can say.”
Mussina hasn’t decided whether he’ll continue but said he’d pitch for the Yankees if they want him in 2009.
“I’ve always loved pitching here,” Mussina said. “That’d be a simple answer.”
I would feel comfortable bringing Moose back for another year. At this point, he seems like a lock for at least one more good season. I’d definitely take him over Andy Pettitte.

The Yanks should not have given up Javier or Dioner Navarro in the Randy Johnson deal. Now Vazquez is a solid pitcher (if not a bit wild durin times) and Dioner made the ASG. Think about that. If Johnson had stayed in Arizona, the Yankees would probably have Vazquez as their No. 3 and Navarro as the starting catcher. Too bad.
Good point, however, hindsight is 20/20. Forget the past – look to the future – 2009: We have $84mill to spend on (hopefully( pitching. We have Mo, Joba, and 4-6 really promising young pitchers in the pen. This was a rebuilding year – granted, even in rebuilding years Yanks should win at least 90 games – but I had no grand designs on championship this year. Now in 2009, I expect one.
Bring back Moose!
Dump Pettitte?
