Forget Student Loans

August 25, 2008, 11:10 pm

Yea, seriously, who cares (that’s sarcasm there)? Guess what, if you’re a Yankee fan, you’ll have to pay $2,500 per ticket for the best seats at the new Yankee Stadium (those seats better come with an attractive, female masseuse). Well, it’s not like the everyday fan was ever able to sit in those seats before, since they were previously going for $1,000 a pop. Honestly, am I nuts or is this just absurd? I can’t even fathom who not only has the money to pay that much to see a baseball game, but who would want to (well, I want to, but it’s not realistic for me)? I understand the reasoning for the prices, whether it’s to recoup on the cost of the project, or simply because of the high demand, but, you know what, that’s a lot of money.

Tier Reserve and television. Now those are two wonderful things.

The AL East?

August 25, 2008, 9:20 am

From George King III:

Mussina said yesterday what many within the Yankees’ organization believe but won’t admit: The wild-card door is the only one available to get into the playoffs.”We have to win games and be there at the end. Winning the [AL East] isn’t at the forefront of our minds right now,” Mussina said before yesterday’s 8-7 win over the Orioles kept the Yankees five games behind the wild-card leading Red Sox. “We have to win games.”

While the AL East-leading Rays hold a 91/2-game advantage over the third-place Yankees, the wild-card race could be altered this week at Yankee Stadium where the Red Sox open a three-game series tomorrow night.

Winning the AL East seems pretty bleak, no?
