The Yankees delivered tonight, as their pitching and offense both clicked simultaneously (welcome to NYC Richie Sexson), allowing for a 7-1 win against Oakland. I just got back from the game, and while it was fun for Yankee fans, I have to say, the heat and humidity made it almost unbearable. I got out of there in the 7th and headed home (I’m headed back to Seattle tomorrow morning). It was a touching moment for me, especially since it was probably my last visit to the ol’ stadium.
The Yankees also delivered another touching moment, honoring Bobby Murcer at the game with a moment of silence (some people cheered and chanted for Bobby, which was OK). They also played a round of clips of Bobby as a player and as a commentator, on the big screen (click on that link to see it). Nicely done on their part, and the fans really seemed to enjoy it. He will certainly be missed.
