Happy 4th

July 4, 2008, 10:07 pm

Have a happy and healthy 4th of July. In case you were wondering, Johnny Damon was diagnosed with a shoulder contusion and is listed as day-to-day (he’ll have an MRI tomorrow). Right now, the Yankee season seems to be teetering much like the ball did today, on the edge of the wall out in LF. Tough times may be ahead for the NY Yankees, so forget about them today and have yourself a good time tonight.

There’s always tomorrow.

Joe Girardi held a team meeting after yesterday’s loss. Right now, the bats are dead. Hopefully the meeting will wake everyone up. Then again, it’s hard to wake up against Josh Beckett.

Absolutely Terrible

July 4, 2008, 12:07 am

That’s all I can say about tonight’s game. Andy Pettitte didn’t show up to pitch and the entire Yankee offense didn’t show up to hit (I’ll give Cano and Melky a pass). Dan Giese showed up, but that was after the Red Sox offense had already arrived after a 3-game sweep, and were seriously ready to play. The team looks pathetic and lost right now, and while those are harsh words, they’re perfectly adequate in describing the level of play seen tonight against Lester and the BoSox. The Yankees are lucky to be in third place right now, especially with the Orioles not too far off. Ugly loss, that’s all that can be said (tomorrow’s game won’t be much easier with Beckett on the hill and he smells blood).
