Saturday’s Quick Bits: Bruney, Cashman, Cole
June 7, 2008, 6:36 pmCouple of key notes on the Yanks:
- Brian Bruney could be back the AS break. He has been cleared to start playing catch and the Yankees could definitely use him.
- Now, according to Hank Steinbrenner, the Yankees will wait until after the season to discuss a contract extension with Cashman. No idea how or why we’ve seen seen conflicting reports on that matter.
- Tyler Kepner has a nice piece on Gerrit Cole. The Yanks know it’ll be difficult to iron out a deal as long as Scott Boras represents Cole, but we’ll see what happens. Whenever you have a high school kid who could throw in the high 90’s, it’s probably best to get something done. Cole has a commitment to UCLA so that’s a big bargaining chip.
