Well I had to have some sort of theme for this post, right?
-
Here’s a
nice read by Newsday’s Kat O’Brien regarding Mike Mussina. Mussina provides readers with some thoughts on his HOF chances, steroids in baseball, and he also talks a bit about his rough season in 2007 (and his subsequent goals for the upcoming season).
-
By now, we’ve probably all heard about
Paul O’Neill’s number being taken out of semi-retirement. Jack Curry of the Times was the first to inform O’Neill of the news, and he definitely sounds pretty surprised about it all.
-
And, finally, my good friend the Yankee GM (at the YankeeGM Blog) has a really nice idea for fans. He’s actually
sponsoring a petition for a George Steinbrenner day at Yankee Stadium. It’s a cool idea and Big Stein has earned it. Check out the actual petition,
here.

Let’s get right into it:
-
Wang’s arbitration hearing is finished. We will await the results to see how much money Wang will be paid this season. When asked about his feelings in relation to the situation, Wang said that he will not be upset, no matter what the outcome maybe.
-
Next up, Phil Hughes had a Q & A with Ian Kennedy over on his blog. It’s a rather short read, but we still get to hear about Kennedy’s choice in changeups.
-
Last but certainly not least, Hideki Matsui will be eased into Spring Training and may miss the opening game on Feb. 29th. Cashman states that he is cleared for training, however, they’re just being cautious with him.
That’s all for now. Oh, and a Happy Valentines Day to you and yours!

The LoHud Blog will have a ton of updates on Spring Training, so make sure to check in with Pete. He’ll actually be there (obviously) and has some interesting stuff for the fan who vicariously wishes they were a baseball player (or beat writer?) in Florida.
Also, I’d like to thank all the readers who have stopped by and would like to thank those in particular who’ve jumped on the site and left a comment or two. It’s been a nice experience to say the least, and the iYankees Blog has survived its first off-season.

C.C. Sabathia has announced that he will wait until after the 2008 season to deal with contractual talks (including extension offers from the Indians). So, basically, they’ll have a chance to compete for Sabathia’ services along with everyone else. Sabathia will be a Yankee come 2009 (either that or he’ll be an Indian).

I saw this over at Phil Hughes’ blog. It’s a pic of Ian Kennedy at a recently attended NASCAR event.

What I didn’t realize, until seeing this picture, is that IPK is actually the same kid on the covers of Mad Magazine. Who knew, right?
