Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts lately. Grad School started kicking in hardcore and the workload was getting a bit excessive. Now that that’s all out of the way, I’ll be checking in consistently with posts and news (until I get bombarded again) so stay tuned.
Either way, the Yankees haven’t been doing much lately. LaTroy Hawkins recently agreed to a deal with the Yanks, and its too cheap of a deal (for them, not me) to really worry about it. Hopefully, they’ll get their money’s worth and let his arm fall off by the end of the year (but with Joe G. that may not happen).
Here’s something from the Times on the Hawkins deal:
Hawkins has pitched exclusively in relief since then, but he began as a starter with the Minnesota Twins.
He was the losing pitcher the day David Wells threw his perfect game at Yankee Stadium in 1998. The Yankees also employed the losing pitcher of David Cone’s perfect game against Montreal in 1999 — Javier Vázquez, who pitched for the Yankees in 2004.
I guess that’s interesting? It kind of brings me back though. I was lucky enough to be at Yankee Stadium for David Cone’s perfect game. What a moment that was.
Oh, and in case you didn’t know. Here’s some news on another great Yankee pitcher (…..).
